Face Your Writing Monsters!
Fri 29th - Sun 31st October 2021
The writing world can be a shadowy, scary place, peopled by all kinds of ghouls who want to hold you back or even stop you writing. The most effective way to put them firmly under the bed is to roll up your sleeves and get writing.
This weekend is your chance to do just that. You'll learn to write stronger sentences; unlock stubborn bits of story; persuade your characters to get onboard; and tricks to fire your imagination. We'll discuss all sorts of fears. The submission jitters, the "I'm not good enough" goblin, and the "How do I fit this into my life?" monster, to name just a few.
Alongside hands-on workshops and a plenary session, you'll have a dedicated 1 - 1 session with each tutor. Furthermore, we'll be joined on Saturday evening by multi-award-winning novelist James Scudamore. He, too, will be on hand to talk about monsters of his own, and how you might overcome yours, whatever stage of writing you're at.
The course costs £325, inclusive of two 1 - 1 sessions at which you will receive feedback on 2000 words which we will both read in advance, and be able to discuss your work more broadly.
By the end of the weekend, you'll be armed with the drive and techniques to face your monsters down.
